Our Governors

Governors’ Statement

We are a committed group of people, parents, staff and members of the community, who work collectively to form the Governing Body. We give our time voluntarily to support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in the governance and strategic leadership of the school.

At the heart of all we do is the wellbeing of our pupils.

The Full Governing Body meets every half-term to make the key decisions. We organise our work through a structure of committees, working parties and designated lead governors. What we do as a Governing Body is described in our Terms of Reference, and the principles by which we do it is in our Code of Conduct. Governors’ attendance at meetings is high and their contributions are constructive.

As governors, our energies are focused on the three key priorities for all governors, as specified by the Department of Education, they are:

1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and

3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

It is important to note that the governors are a team, not a collection of individuals and however much we may differ in our opinions and experiences we are united by our commitment to the School and the responsibility we share for its long-term success. In short, we have a common purpose.
