Governors' Pen Portraits
Ruth Livingstone (Chair of Governors; Co-opted)
I was co-opted onto the Governing Body (June 2022).
I have an extensive background in Education since beginning my teaching career in 1977. I have worked as a class teacher in a range of different schools across Cheshire East. I was headteacher of a small rural Church school very similar to Bosley St. Mary’s. My career has taken me through all phases of education from early years to adult education and I am now working part time in Higher Education as a Lecturer in Teacher Training.
My passion for education has never dimmed and I am an advocate for ‘lifelong learning’. My own development as a teacher was enhanced by becoming an Ofsted Inspector and being privileged to visit many different schools across the country. In addition to my lecturing role, I am also currently involved in delivering support and mentoring to new staff members as well as staff development and training programmes.
I have lived in Bosley since 2006 and a change in personal circumstances has meant that I am now able to devote time and my experience to support the staff and Governors of Bosley St. Mary’s School and I am very much looking forward to becoming an established part of the team.
Eleanor Warrington (Vice Chair of Governors; Foundation)
I have recently become a Foundation Governor at Bosley and I’m loving it. The warmth that you receive from the entire Bosley family as you enter school is second to none. The relationships within school underpin everything that goes on and as a visitor to school this is wonderful to experience. I strongly support Bosley’s Christian vision and core values, along with the inclusivity and creativity which allow pupils to flourish.
As a primary teacher with over 30 years’ experience, I know the challenges, successes and joys of working in a primary school. I still believe it is the best job in the world! Within primary education, my specialisms are English and Special Educational Needs, and I hope that my experience will bring something unique to Bosley School.
As a past Bosley pupil, as were my father and grandfather, I am proud and privileged to be part of the governing team and I look forward to supporting Bosley in the years to come.
Iain Madden (Parent Governor)
I was elected as a Parent Governor to Bosley St. Marys in 2024. I have a son in Year Two having been through Preschool and Reception. I also have three adult children and live with my family in Congleton. I have lived and worked in the Cheshire East area all my life.
I have been a Police Officer with Cheshire Constabulary for 26 years, currently at the rank of Detective Sergeant. Most of that time I have worked within the Child Protection arena and have experience working closely with schools and social services, safeguarding children. I have also coached youth teams for Cricket in the local area. I look forward to supporting the school as a member of the Board.

Rebecca Hadfield (Headteacher; Ex Officio)
I am proud to be the Headteacher of Bosley St. Mary's CE Primary School.
I am guided by the belief that every learner should flourish in school, that children can do amazing things, and that as educators our job is to make that happen. Our school may be small, but we are big in heart, ambition and potential. I am fortunate to work alongside colleagues and governors who are dedicated to building a flourishing school.
Like so many in our profession, I have always wanted to teach, although my journey has been different to many of my colleagues. I graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Sheffield in 2003 and then spent over a decade working in retail financial services. I held a range of management roles during the aftermath of the financial crisis which surprisingly has proved to be great grounding for my teaching career.
After a sabbatical in 2013-14, I made the decision to retrain as teacher and was awarded my PGCE from Staffordshire University in 2017. I came to Bosley on my second teaching placement in March 2017, loved the school and have never left! As well as being Headteacher, I teach part time and I am the school's SENDCo, Safeguarding Lead and science subject lead. No two days are the same and nor would I want them to be.
Anita Smith (Staff Governor)
My early childhood was spent in Mow Cop, before my family moved to Congleton when I was 8 years old. Having completed my GCSE and A-Level examinations, I travelled independently and worked on the Greek island of Skiathos.
I am married to Darren and have two children. My eldest son, Henry, is currently studying for a degree in Computer Science and my youngest son, Alife, is working towards his GCSE examinations in Year 11. We live in Congleton with our two dogs, a cat and a budgie.
My professional background includes various administrative roles, notably as a CQC Registered Manager at a private dental practice and later as Associate Director of Research Nursing for a Clinical Research Organisation.
Supporting my children’s education inspired a passion for teaching, leading me to leave clinical research in 2018 to pursue teacher training. I graduated in 2021 with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education with QTS from Staffordshire University, training in three schools across Crewe and Congleton.
Prior to applying for a teaching position at Bosley, I came for a tour of the school and immediately felt a sense of warmth and belonging and I knew that this was the school for me! Thankfully, the interviewing panel agreed, and I am incredibly proud to have been the Class Teacher in Oak since September 2021.
As a nurturing teacher, I am deeply committed to fostering an inclusive classroom where every child feels valued, supported and inspired to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an environment which prepares them with confidence and resilience for their next steps in education.
In addition to teaching, I mentor trainee teachers through the Trust, sharing my passion for education. As Maths Subject Lead, I aim to cultivate a love for mathematics and ensure our pupils build a strong foundation. I also proudly represent the staff team on the Board, advocating for our school community and contributing to its vision and success.
