School Food
Text
At Bosley St Mary's, we believe that good food helps children feel happy, healthy and ready to learn.
Our school meals are provided by Chartwells, offering a variety of nutritious, balanced and tasty meals for children to enjoy.
Lunchtime is an important part of our school day. Children eat together in our school hall, enjoying the opportunity to socialise, develop independence and spend time with their friends.
School Meals
Children can enjoy a freshly prepared school lunch each day, with a choice of meals to suit different tastes.
Parents and carers can pre-book school lunches through the Compass app, using the Canteen option. Alternatively, children can choose and order their lunch at school each morning.
School meals are paid for through the Compass app and cost £3.50.
Universal Infant Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal each day through the Government's Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.
There is no need to apply for this entitlement.
Free School Meals
Children in other year groups may also be entitled to free school meals, depending on their family's circumstances.
We encourage all eligible families to apply, including families of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who already receive Universal Infant Free School Meals. Eligible applications can also help our school receive additional funding to support children's learning.
You can find out more and apply through the Cheshire East Council Free School Meals website.
Packed Lunches
Children are welcome to bring a packed lunch from home instead of having a school meal.
We encourage families to provide a healthy, balanced lunch that gives children the energy they need for a busy school day. Please avoid including sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks.
We encourage children to eat their savoury food before moving on to sweet treats, although they will never be forced to eat. Any uneaten food will be sent home in their lunchbox so that parents and carers can see what their child has eaten during the day.
We are a Nut Free School: To help keep everyone safe, please do not include nuts or nut-based products in packed lunches.
Break Time Snacks
We encourage healthy eating throughout the school day.
Fresh fruit is always available for children to enjoy, and toast can also be ordered as a morning snack.
Children may also bring a healthy snack from home, such as a piece of fruit.
Water Bottles
Children are encouraged to bring a named, refillable water bottle to school each day.
Drinking water regularly helps children stay hydrated, concentrate and feel their best throughout the school day.
Please ensure that bottles contain water rather than juice or fizzy drinks.
Food Allergies and Special Dietary Requirements
We want every child to enjoy their lunchtime safely and comfortably.
If your child has a food allergy, intolerance or special dietary requirement, please contact the school office so that we can discuss their needs and make appropriate arrangements with our catering provider.
