Year 5 and Year 6

Growing strong roots and reaching for new heights!

Oak Class is the home of our older learners at Bosley St Mary's. It is a place where children are encouraged to challenge themselves, develop independence and take increasing responsibility for their learning as they prepare for the next stage of their education.

Our mixed-age classroom provides opportunities for children to learn alongside one another, share their knowledge and develop confidence as valued members of our school community.

Learning in Oak

In Oak Class, we build on the strong foundations established throughout school, developing children's knowledge, skills and understanding across a broad and ambitious curriculum.

We encourage pupils to think deeply, ask thoughtful questions, explain their reasoning and become confident, independent learners.

Through engaging lessons, practical challenges, discussion and opportunities for creativity, children are supported to develop resilience, perseverance and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.

Growing and Flourishing

As the oldest children in our school, Oak pupils play an important role in our Bosley family.

We encourage them to become positive role models, demonstrate our school values and take pride in contributing to school life.

Children are supported to develop their confidence, independence and sense of responsibility, learning to make good choices, work collaboratively and embrace new challenges.

We recognise that every child has their own strengths, talents and aspirations, and we are committed to helping each one flourish academically, socially and personally.

In Oak Class, we aim high, support one another and prepare confidently for the future!

Keeping in Touch

A strong partnership between home and school remains important as children become more independent. We keep families informed through our regular school communications and encourage parents and carers to take an active interest in their child's learning.

You can also enjoy seeing our learning, achievements and celebrations through our school Facebook and Instagram pages.
